HISTORY IN THE MAKING

The Levendi Cabernet Sauvignon is a "labor of love" resulting from the combined expertise and talents of a team headed by father and son, James and David Gianulias; Todd Rustman, David's longtime friend and business partner; and Alison Green Doran, who is not only one of the emerging great winemakers in the region but a protégé of the renowned Andre Tchelistcheff -- a man credited with putting Napa Valley on the map as a world-class wine producing region. 

James and David Gianulias can trace their roots in the Napa Valley back 25 years.  They have long been wine aficionados before learning the ropes of the winemaking process from local experts.  It wasn't long before they started growing their own grapes and eventually began manufacturing their own varietal.  Only friends and family were treated to the finished product.

In 2000, James, David and Todd began formulating a plan to produce a limited-edition premier wine to be introduced to the general market.  Their quest for knowledge in the field was grand in scope and, before long, they had developed a keen understanding of wine production.  They learned many of the intricacies of the business by accompanying experts involved in all facets of business as they conducted their duties.  How does climate and soil conditions affect a crop?  When is the optimum time for harvesting and crushing the grapes?  How long should fermentation last and under which conditions?  What role does temperature play in the end product?  What can be done to add structure and counteract reduction?  How does the type of barrel the wine is stored in affect its flavor?

Armed with this knowledge and a passion for producing the best wine possible, the team recruited Alison Green Doran, who brought a lifetime of experience to the table.  By combining their respective talents, the team went about the painstaking process of developing a single vineyard designate, 100-percent pure Cabernet Sauvignon from the ten-row private select.  The result of this process is a wine that is taking the industry by storm -- Levendi.
